Week ending Saturday March 2nd - Sunday March 3rd saw Dorset hosting Hertfordshire in the next round of darts. Dorset on a semi-high having come back from 6-12 down after day one to Devon last game, SO NEARLY scraping a draw but losing 17-19. Hertfordshire having a MEGA win 28-8 against Nottinghamshire and earning 3 bonus points as well, so both teams WELL UP FOR IT. The league table looking very interesting with only 7 games separating the first 5 teams so EVERYTHING TO PLAY FOR, Dorset sat in the 5th position, Hertfordshire in 2nd some 6 games ahead of us. So how did we get on?

Our ladies B team changed a lot since our last game (1-5) defeat. Up first Trina Perry who played consistently running out a 3-1 winner. Next up Claire Mabey (who I did feel for in her last game against Devon she had a 20+ average the highest average OF ALL the ladies B teams and got nothing for it) who took her game to a deciding leg and hit an 84 shot out to win 3-2 was our Lady of the Match as well, hitting a 16.27 average (good Karma) and gave it the big COME ON as the winning double went in that's what the win means to her.

Next up Lorraine Woodrow back in the B but despite hitting a 17.15 average missed a few doubles and loses 0-3. Next up Sally Old, Sally playing 19s and has a great first leg scoring well and is going for a double when Hertfordshire are back in the 200s and takes the first leg. Sally busts 83 in the next leg and Numerous missed doubles and Sally loses 1-3. Donna Mabbatt up next again back in the B team Donna gets to the double first in every leg misses a few doubles but NO PROBLEM as she wins 3-0. That left Carol Llewellyn up last for the win. First 4 legs all went with throw forcing a deciding leg Carol with throw. Linda Reed (Hertfordshire) started the best hitting a 100 and a 140 Carol misses one at tops Linda takes the win hitting a 18.99 average and was Hertfordshire's Lady of the Match. So our women got the draw at 3-3 much better than last game. Bring on the Men's B.

Up first for us Kevin Smith who was our Man of the Match against Devon, Kevin carried on ware he left off hitting a 27.08 average wins 4-0 and was our M.O.M yet again. Ryan Mabey up next had what can only be described as a shocker (most un-Ryan like) losing 0-4. Graham Inniss up next raced (despite a few missed doubles) into a 3-0 lead then both players ended up in the madhouse double one and what an average destroyer that can be at one point I did think should I get the MC a chair the double EVENTUALLY giving itself up to Graham. Alan Ayres up next hits a 134 to leave 20 returns hits it to go 1-0 up, misses doubles in the next, and loses 1-4.

Next up Matt Reed (MOOSTER 25.67) who had a cracking game against Nick Swain first two legs went with throw, Nick hits a 180 on his way to taking the 3rd. Mooster misses numerous doubles and goes 1-3 down. Mooster then pokes a 104 for a 15 dart leg to pull one back, MOOSTER out scored in the next and loses 2-4 but fought all the way. Nick Swain was Hertfordshire's MOM hitting a 27.68 average. Next Matty Woodhouse (26.18) who also had a good game against Ricky Howard (25.91) both have goes at a double in the first leg, Matty pinching it. 16 dart leg to level at 1-1 for Ricky, Matty takes the next, then hits a 139 to leave 40 Ricky pokes out 2-2. Ricky hits a 131 to leave 16 this time Matty pokes out. Against the throw Matty hits 2x100 and a 140 and takes the win 4-2. So after 6 games Match standing at 3-3.

Next up Daniel Perry who took his game to a deciding leg, Dan's game one of missed doubles and he loses 3-4. Next John Clark (team manager) who loses 1-4. Roy Pidgeon next up comes back from 1-3 behind to force a deciding leg against the throw and despite a higher average loses 3-4. Richard Perry raced into a 2-0 lead takes out a 116 to go 3-0 up (must be averaging 28+ for first 3 legs) then the wheels fell off and missed doubles and a GUTTED Richard Perry loses 3-4. Score now standing overall at Dorset 6 Hertfordshire 10 and thoughts of our last game 6-12 down after Saturday entering our minds but we at Dorset NEVER GIVE UP.

Next Robby Morris who goes into a 3-2 lead after breaking Martin Kingsley's throw, Robby looked well in control in the 6th leg but a 180 from Martin put the pressure on Robby who misses numerous winning doubles and yet another deciding leg against the throw. A very relieved Robby takes the win. Up last Declan Harris, now Declan (25.11) has been having an up/down season you never really know what you are going to get. First 4 legs all went with throw. Nice 15 darter with throw puts Declan 3-2 up. Declan misses one dart at the bull, Martin pokes out another deciding leg. Declan gives it the big COME ON as he hits the winning double and give us hope of a BETTER TOMORROW with the overall scores standing at Dorset 8 Hertfordshire 10.

Now we knew Hertfordshire's ladies A were good so far un-defeated this season so our girls were up against it. Up first Sarah Chick (22.32) v Tina Neylon (22.24) and what a great game to start with. Sarah breaks Tina's throw to go 1-0 up, Trina does the same to Sarah to level at 1-1. Sarah pokes a 137 to go 2-1 up (proper darts) Trina forces a deciding leg with throw. Sarah well in front in the 5th leg then Trina hits a 140 and 97 to leave 24 which she returns and hits to take the win. Great game Trina was Hertfordshire's Lady of the Match. Next up Katie Mitchell (19.22) Katie looking cool and calm up on stage and in a close game takes a 3-1 win. Next Sam Kirton (20.52) v Rebecca Farmer (20.27) game could of gone either way BOTH missing doubles game going to yet another deciding leg, missed doubles from both leg and win going to Hertfordshire, putting Dorset 1-2 behind.

Suzy Trickett up next (18.71) Suzy a little slow to start and goes 0-2 down then started the fight back, hitting two 100s and a 177 to leave 38 which she returns to hit. Suzy hits a ton and two 140s and after 15 darts in the 4th leg Suzy is sat on 8 and forces a deciding leg. Both have a go at a winning double this time it went to us. Cathy Campbell (25.47) v Louise Pearson (23.05) as the averages suggest Cathy played a great game no messing at the doubles and running out a 3-0 winner, Nice to see Cathy playing so well we all know how good she is. Cathy our deserved Lady of the Match and put our ladies 3-2 up NO PRESSURE then Julie Frampton (17.23) up last for the win. Julie goes into a 2-0 lead. Missed doubles and Debbie Jones (Hertfordshire) pulls a leg back. Julie hits 84 to leave tops returns misses three at it Debbie pokes 66 yes yet another deciding leg. Julie starts well hitting a 140 and a has a 60 shot out to take the well deserved win (keep us waiting) and gives Hertfordshire's ladies their first defeat. So match all even up to our Men's A to get a result.

Up first Steven Earley (27.21) v Jarred Cole (30.14) Both played exceptionally well as the averages suggest. Steven's game going to a deciding leg which went with throw to Hertfordshire. Jarred (30.14) was Hertfordshire's Man of the Match. Next up Robbie Martin (24.60) who had no problems running out a 4-1 winner. Mark Porter (25.13 POTTY) up next. Potty takes the first leg, then hits 111 to leave 6 ? had 3 darts at it but not to be. Potty then goes onto a 3-1 lead. Next two legs so close but going to Hertfordshire's Keith Arber to force another final leg decider against the throw. After 15 darts Keith is sat on tops Potty way back on 156 Potty hits the two treble twenties needed then without stopping straight in the middle of the double 18 turns in one movement to shake Keith's hand who looked a little shocked and the Dorset Massive erupted, follow that Carl Beattie (26.18) up next. Carl's family all turned up to watch him so he was a little more nervous than usual. Carl finds himself despite doing little wrong 0-2 down, but a 121 followed by a 180 and he takes the 3rd leg. Hertfordshire's Daniel Varney (26.86) takes the next Carl now 1-3 down his friend family and the Dorset Massive all looking nervously on. Carl pulls the next leg back then hits a 180 and a 116 to leave 16 which he hits to level at 3-3. Carl with throw Daniel misses one dart at tops Carl takes the win.

Next up Matt Yarrow (24.08) Matt goes into a 2-0 lead Hertfordshire's Steven Beasley takes the next then goes onto hit 2x180s on his way to levelling at 2-2. Great scoring from both in the next two legs and yes another deciding leg. Matt hits 95 to leave tops and takes the win. Lee Turle (27.64) takes the first leg. A 116 shot out from Hertfordshire's Mick Spriggs takes the 2nd. Lee after that upped his scoring and no messing at the double to take a 4-1 win. So after 6 games Dorset find them a deserved hard fought 5-1 up needing just one more to get us the guaranteed draw.

Next up Scotty Dog Mitchell (37.81) so much EXPECTED from him being who he is ex world champion and England captain never easy for him with all that pressure but Scott being Scott gave an EXHIBITION of how this game should be played. Scotty takes the first leg breaking Hertfordshire's Kieran Brignell's throw. Scott hits 2x180s on his way to an 11 dart 2nd leg. Incredible 3rd leg again no messing at the double. 3x100 and a 121 on his way to winning 4-0 no typing error really was 37.81. Can I just say the PDC jump up and down at 100+ averages Scot averages equates to 113.43 average definite WOW moment.

Next up Richard Wright (25.79) now the last two games for Rich have to say the least not been good nice to see the old confident Richard Wright back. Richard playing a youngster Brad Phillips (24.07) who had no fear up there the game going DESERVEDLY to a deciding leg in which Brad hits a 180 to leave (the big fish?) 170 but leg goes to Rich nice to see him back to his winning ways.

Next Paul Allen (25.69 as CLARKY says this guy doesn't know how to lose) Paul doing more than enough to win 4-0 (but a lot of missed doubles what could his average of been hey I'm happy with the W). Mark Grimes (25.08) up next. So many darts at a double but Mark takes the first leg then a 14 dart second leg 17 dart third. It takes a 18 dart leg with throw to pull one back 3-1. Mark goes onto win 4-1. Everyone loves it (well Dorset Massive) when your winning Dorset have now won the last 9 A games in a row and it's getting very loud in here. Next up Tommy Morris and he can make any game exciting when he's winning with his COME ON with every big score or winning double. Tommy pokes 68 to take the first, on 89 Tommy misses 5 darts at 32 Hertfordshire's Peter Mays pokes out, and goes onto take the 3rd leg. Tommy takes the next two legs to go 3-2 up, then hits a 140 to leave 4 and takes the win. Up last Danny Pearce (25.36) v Adam Pinnuck (27.83) What a start for Adam a 134 shot out to take the first leg 54 tops tops (cheeky but good) then starts the 2nd leg with a 180. Danny didn't do anything wrong but Adam not only scored well but finished well Danny losing 0-4.

So what a result for our Men's A losing only the first and last game to take a 10-2 win final result standing at Dorset 22 Hertfordshire 14 pushing us back up the table to 2nd with two to play.

MARTIN'S THOUGHTS

Well the support this weekend was EXCEPTIONAL long may it last everyone loves a winning team. No time to get complacent still 2 games left neither easy but we've certainly got the will to win now. Seems wrong to single anyone out you all gave 100% if it didn't go this time for you then next time. Pleased Claire got WOM Saturday after hitting highest average last game but not getting that big W. Kev Smith 2nd MOM in a row. Our ladies A amazing only Sarah Chick and Sam Kirton losing both 2-3 so close. Men's A two matches in a row you have performed well. Scott Mitchell rude not to mention his 113+ average. Also the BDO ENGLAND rankings are out Scott Mitchell No 1 Mark Grimes No 12 Robbie Martin, No 16 Mark Porter No 29 that's 4 Dorset's superstars in the top 30.

We all do our bit well done bar staff catering staff (sounds posh) ton and raffle ticket sellers without you all we would be nothing, and of course Potty and Michelle who keep us all on the straight and narrow. Next game end of the month away to Cambridgeshire BRING IT ON travel well boys @ girls see you all there.

Green Army supporting so well and marching back up the table X
