Week ending Sat 4th/Sun 5th March saw Dorset playing at home to bottom of the league Kent so hopes were HIGH of a good win after our defeat 17-19 at Hampshire. True Hampshire are riding high at the top of the league but we beat the West Midlands side so convincingly in January and I felt they had a stronger team than Hampshire such is darts. So how did we do? Up first our undefeated ladies B team 6 from 6 so far so a good start was almost expected.

Up first Cath Campbell who didn't drop a leg winning 3-0. Next up ladies captain Sally Old, Sally not at her best losing to Sandrine Valverde (who was Kent's lady of the match) 1-3. Carol Llewellyn and Trina Perry both didn't drop a leg both winning 3-0, then the match of the weekend in my opinion from the ladies, Dorset's Sam Kirton v Kents Lauren Bloomfield down from that A team, both scored really well in a nip and tuck battle Sam running out the winner 3-1 with a lady of the match average of 23.33 Lauren herself hitting a 22.88 average showing her A player game, that's 3 from 3 for Sam now who is certainly a nice find for the Dorset team. Up last and by no means least Katie Mitchell whose game went to a deciding leg which went Dorset way. So ALMOST a dream start by our girls giving us a 5-1 lead. Could the Men's B follow ? On paper Kents B men were 9 games ahead of us but I feel we are just starting to GEL as a team and are still JIGGLING IT about to get the best side possible.

Up first for the Men Tim Poole. Tim had a great game hitting a 25.16 average but he came up against an in form Tyler Reynolds (Kent's Man of the Match) who hit a 25.82 average, Tim losing 1-3. Next up John Clark getting a 3-1 win. Richard Wright up next returning to County Darts after a few years break, Richard also winning 3-1. Phil Weeks up next no problem winning 3-0 with a 24.24 average putting Dorset 3-1 up. Potty up next Mark Porter scored well struggled a little at the double, his game going to a deciding leg which went Kent's way.

Next Tommy Morris (last games Man of the Match for Dorset) Tommy played with his usual FIRE and BELIEF and won 3-0 hitting ANOTHER Man of the Match 25.47 average. Next Declan Harris making his debut for Dorset, Declan played well his game going to a deciding leg which went to Sam Sanson. Dan Walker on next hitting 2x180s on his way to a 3-2 win, Dan showing how much a win meant to him, as he gave out a COME ON to gee the rest of Dorset on. Mooster up next, Matt Reed, having no problem as he wins 3-0.

Next up Nigel Lamb whose game went to a deciding leg, Nigel feeling the heat up on stage and loses 2-3. Next up Scott Hudson who didn't have a bad game but Martin Goodin (Kent) didn't mess about at the doubles. So the B teams match going to a final game with Dorset in front 6-5 with just young Daniel Perry (15 years old) to play. Very close game going to a deserved final leg Daniel poking 58 (1/17/tops well as the manager says "better to be lucky than good" but Dan is both) to win the match 7-5 for the B team. So going into Sunday Dorset had a healthy lead winning 12-6 over Kent. Now Kents ladies A so far haven't won a match so for once our girls were favourite to get the win but things don't always go to plan do they?

Up first Suzy Trickett who had no problems winning 3-0 closely followed by Julie Boggust who also won this time 3-1. Julie Frampton had a close game which went to a deciding leg Julie keeping her nerve to take it. Next Peri Yarrow who had an excellent game hitting a 22.10 average on her way to a 3-0 win, putting the girls 4-0 up. Donna Mabbatt up next despite hitting a 19.32 average lost to Emma Little who was Kent's lady of the match hitting a 21.78 average. Up last Sarah Chick who played well hitting the highest average of the weekend for the ladies of 24.64 and getting Dorset's lady of the match. Women's A like the B winning 5-1. Overall score standing at Dorset 17 Kent 7 with just the Men's A teams to play. Now Dorset's Men's A on paper aren't doing as well as Kent's A but it's how they play on the day that counts.

Up first Lee Edwardson who lost 2-4 to Kevin Smith no relation to our Kevin Smith. Dale Masterman up next had a great game hitting a 27.93 average and winning 4-1. Thomas Chant up next didn't go for Thomas and he loses 1-4. Robbie Martin (25.65) up next played his usual consistent game had a fight on his hands nothing separating him and Peter Davies in the averages but Robbie winning 4-2. Next our Kevin Smith who despite hitting a 25.29 average lost to Kent's Man of the Match Peter Allen who hit a 28.23 average on his way to winning 4-0. Next Robby Morris who came out a 4-1 winner for Dorset.

Woo Woo up next Matt Woodhouse (25.04) lost 2-4 nothing separating the two players in the averages. Next up Scotty Dog Mitchell who had the highest average of the weekend 29.91 the scoreine of 4-0 not reflecting how well Dave Salter played hitting a 27.14 average himself. Never easy for Scott as everyone EXPECTS him to win not only his match but man of the match as well, he rarely disappoints. Nice to watch.

Mike Bowden up next lost 1-4, not playing anything like his normal game. Lee Turle (last games man of the match for Dorset 31.52) up next sitting SO MANY DARTS on top of the treble twenty wire, frustrating just not finding the lipstick as normal, his game going to a final leg which went Kent's Nigel Payne's way Lee having the higher average but not the win THIS TIME. Mark Grimes up next kept the hope of a draw alive as he wins 4-2 with a 28.83 average, score now standing at Dorset 5 Kent 6. Up last to get hopefully the draw Matt Yarrow who despite hitting the higher average (25.51) lost 1-4 so final score overall Dorset 22 Kent 14

MARTIN'S THOUGHTS

Great win again for Sam Kirton, Tim Poole playing well, a win for Clarky, Tommy Morris playing with passion, good return for Richard Wright and good debut for Declan Harris not phased up on stage, Mooster winning again, Dan Perry showing what it means to win. The ladies as always 10 from 12 it doesn't get much better than that, it's starting to cost Clarky money as he buys the ladies a drink if they win well. Big Show, Robbie Martin, Mark Grimes and Scotty Dog all playing well, Lee Turle a little unlucky this time, that won't happen very often the men almost backing the girls up 12 from 24.

Next game the long away game at Cleveland a long way to travel but most travelling up on Friday a must as 350+ miles away. Hopes are high, green army marching on and up the league table, thoughts to relegation GONE and an outside chance of finishing in the top 3.

RESULT

Dorset 22 - 14 Kent
Women's B Won 5-1 // Mens B Won 7-5
Women's A Won 5-1 // Mens A Lost 5-7
