Week ending 21st - 22nd January saw Dorset take on West Midlands who were sitting 2nd in the league just 1 game behind the leaders Hampshire who Dorset face next match. Dorset sitting very close to the bottom of the league table only 6 games off bottom placed Cleveland so a good win was needed to move us away from relegation and up the league table. Our last couple of games could of been SO DIFFERENT missed doubles at crucial times cost us dearly. So how did we get on?

Now are ladies B well what can I say about them our only real successful team sitting top of the ladies B league deservedly so winning 19 of the possible 24 games, so a good start was hoped for. Up first Trina Perry who got us off to a good start winning 3-1, next Cathy Campbell who played consistently well winning 3-0. Next Carol Llewellyn who had a close game despite winning 3-0 legs all going to a double. Up next Katie Mitchell winning 3-1 and ANOTHER Woman of the Match trophy hitting a 17.72 average. Next Ladies captain Sally Old and another close game going to a deciding leg which Sally won. Up last and never easy (team being 5-0 up) Sam Kirton last games lady of the match. Sam had as many darts at a double as she did to get there in the 1st leg both players missing numerous chances double ones EVENTUALLY giving itself up to Sam. Sam went on to win 3-0 hitting 2x180s (just like her last match) on the way. So a DREAM START couldn't ask for more Dorset 6 West Midlands 0. Bring on the Men's B.

Could our B follow up on the ladies GREAT result. Our Men's B haven't won a match yet with two loses and two draws AND NO LUCK, hopes that today would be different were high, especially after a 6-0 start but we've been here before. Up first Tim Poole (25.32) whose game went to a deciding leg which went Tim's way. Next up Bryan Pearson who was up against an inform Danny Nicholls who missed nothing around the double, Bryan's bad run continues as he loses 0-3 despite a 23+ average. Next up Tommy Morris an exciting player to watch who showed all the joy and emotion a win can bring. He's exciting to watch as he so wants to win and never gives up, and also picks up Dorset's Man of the Match with a 26.90 average. Next Mark Porter (24.20) whose game went to a deciding leg which went West Midlands way. Terry Prowse up next had a very un-Terry like game losing 1-3, followed by Robby Morris (26.84) who had a great game winning 3-0 so that made match all even at Dorset 3 West Midlands 3.

Next up an England youth player another player showing what it means to get the win, his game going to a deciding leg which went Daniel's way all the relief and tension showing as that winning double went in. Next up Danial Walker (24.40) another last leg decider again going Dorset's way and again the COME ON as that winning double is hit. Matt (Mooster) Read (25.81) up next, now what's this man got to do to get a win regularly poking in 25+ averages but just not getting the win, again no change there Mooster did nothing wrong West Midlands D Mills not missing his doubles and Matt loses 0-3. Phil Weeks making his debut for Dorset (having not played County for 6-7 years) up next Phil the first to admit NOT ONE OF HIS BETTER GAMES but getting that all important winning double. Up next another player making his debut Scott Hutson, Scott up against a very in form Glenn McGrandle (West Midlands Man of the Match) who hit a 26.84 average beating Scott 3-0 so up last and to get our Men's B a win Nigel Lamb (25.91). Now Nigel's a great player but hasn't been doing it up on stage recently, today AT LAST things went Nigel's way winning 3-0 and getting the Men's B team it's first win this season 7-5. So what a Saturday Dorset 13 West Midlands 5. Would it be enough? West Midlands A teams very strong but we only need 6 from 18 games for the win we couldn't mess that up COULD WE?

First on and important to get a good start Julie Frampton, (18.79) Julie played a good consistent game and didn't mess about at the double winning 3-0 followed by Julie Boggust (17.87) who hit 3 yes 3 (private joke she's often 2-0 or 2-1 up) winning doubles to give us a 2-0 lead. Next Donna Mabbatt (16.52) a consistent winner in the B playing her 2nd game in the A things not going her way as she's beaten 3-1 by Woman of the Match for West Midlands Sophie Singh who hit a 18.20 average. Suzy Trickett (20.62) up next played well and came out a 3-1 winner. Next the game of the weekend for me from our ladies Sara Scooby Chick (23.02) Dorset's No 1 running 7th in the County averages v West Midlands No 1 Sarah Roberts (22.51) running 2nd in the County averages. Well the game didn't disappoint both players scoring well and a real nip and tuck battle going Dorset's way and one of the biggest cheers so far from Dorset's followers as that winning double goes in, getting Scooby not only Woman of the Match but money for the best average for the women of the weekend. Well played both of you a great game played with no silly tactics both really wanting the win, follow that Peri Yarrow I said and Peri didn't disappoint winning 3-0 and hitting a 20.04 average as well so what can I say Dorset over all now standing at Dorset 18 West Midlands 6. Is this a dream? Will I wake up like Bobby in the shower this all being just a dream? No it's reality I don't think I can ever remember a time when we were this far in front against a quality side like West Midlands are. Bring on our Men's A.

Now West Midlands A top of the league 4 from 4. Dorset bottom 2 losses and a draw but anything can happen and we were certainly on a high. Must just say West Midlands did have two of there STARS at Q School but we also had two away.

Up first for the win (we hoped) Robbie Martin (25.39) Robbie played his usual solid game to win 4-2 so the win assured and pressure off perhaps our A team could play like I know they can. Next The Big Show Dale Masterman (25.70) Dale up against yesterday's Man of the Match for West Midlands Glenn McGrindle, Dale doing nothing wrong but Glenn playing even better than yesterday hitting the highest average of the weekend and another M.O.M 30.29 Dale losing 2-4. Next up Kevin Smith (23.73) who rushed into a 2-0 lead hitting ton pluses for fun, then the wheels fell off Kev losing 2-4 putting West Midlands 2-1 up. Matt Yarrow (26.72) up next soon silenced the West Midlands supporters with a QUALITY display of darts even poking the magical 170 shot out on the way to his 4-0 win. No £5000 for him though unfortunately, as that's what Glenn Durrant got for highest checkout shot in the BDO worlds. Next up Clarky (24.72) John Clark, now John's been playing darts it seems ever since Noah launched the Ark so the experience was on his side but John went down 0-4.

Next for us another youngster Lee Edwardson who played like we all know he can getting our Man of the Match and a 4-1 win hitting a 29.13 average but also picked up the cash for highest Men's average (West Midlands Glenn 30.29 having to forfeit as only his first average on Saturday qualified how gutting for him small consolation he did get both M.O.M awards and win the money for the correct tons) Mike Bowden (23.12) up next his game going to a deciding leg which went our way, followed by Matty Woodhouse (26.24) Matty put into the A this game didn't disappoint as he also had an edge of your seats last leg WIN. Thomas Chant (26.03 the Robot) played Ian Jones last time we played West Midlands Ian trashed Thomas Chant's dad, Trevor, Thomas took revenge winning 4-0 and putting the A 6-3 up draw guaranteed. Next Mark Grimes (26.72) no problems for Mark winning 4-0 getting the A their first win. Lee Turle (28.66) winning again this time 4-1 and having a great game. Last but FAR from least Scotty Dog Mitchell (27.08) Scott struggled to hit the winning double in the first leg so close, the double eventually giving up, Scott going on to take a 3-0 lead. In the final leg Ashe Khayat was sat on tops thinking I might at least take this leg Scott was having none of it and pokes 120 Shanghai on 20s.

So WHAT A RESULT. Men's A winning 9-3 against top of the table WOW.

Overall Dorset 27 West Midlands 9 you couldn't wish for anymore. Next game away to Top of the League Hampshire but we are going to them on a HIGH not with our tails between are legs, Dorset giant bashes marching onwards and upwards.

Highs well the women winning 6-0 and 5-1 again they gave us every chance to win. Sam hitting 2 more 180s that's 4 in two matches nice find for Dorset. Katie getting one over her Dad with M.O.M, Phil Weeks winning his debut well he is another Christchurch Superleague player, Tommy and Robby Morris (no relation) both playing well and with spirit, Dan Perry getting a win Nigel back to winning, Matty Yarrow entertaining show man that he is. And the Men's A all pulling as a team we have a great side we don't always think it.

So onwards and upwards green army marching on.

RESULT

Dorset 27-9 West Midlands
Women's B Won 6-0 // Mens B Won 7-5
Women's A Won 5-1 // Mens A Won 9-3
